Celebrate Nathan Norstrud and Halima Holloway with a Gift to YouthBuild Philly

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is celebrating 25 years of creating life-changing opportunities for formerly out-of-school youth in Philadelphia. The school's unique two-year program provides former dropouts an opportunity to earn their high school diploma in just one year, while also gaining valuable job skills and industry-recognized certification through on-the-job training and service learning. After graduation, students are supported during the second year of the program as they continue to thrive and achieve their college, career, and service goals.

Throughout its 25 year history, YouthBuild has demonstrated a commitment to empowering young people to take control of their lives and become self-sufficient. Since 1992, YouthBuild has granted more than 2,500 high school diplomas, and students have collectively completed hundreds of thousands of hours of community service. The school's model is unique and highly specialized.

As transplants to Philly, Halima and I both felt it was important to invest our time, energy and resources into organizations that are making Philly a better place to live. I have been very privileged and proud to serve on the Board of Trustees at YouthBuild Philly since 2014. In this time, I've had the opportunity to meet hundreds of inspired – and inspiring – young people who have taken the brave step to reclaim their futures and change their lives and communities.

In the four short years that Halima and I have been involved with YouthBuild Philly, we've seen hundreds of young people realize their potential and become stronger citizens, parents and leaders.
